Melissa + Michael | Huntsville Madison Engagement Photography

Melissa had seen some photos I did a year or so ago with a picnic theme and really liked the look of them. When we discussed her engagement photos, she mentioned that she also wanted to do some picnic photos. I always like having a little picnic with my clients, but I wanted to do something a little different so they had some photos that were uniquely theirs. I found some little 45 records and a little player and thought that would be a fun way to switch it up. Melissa and Michael were SUCH a fun couple! We had a great time at their musical picnic! Here are a few photos from the shoot:

Roadtrip Engagement|Mitchell Plantation Alabama

Every now and then I get an idea and start thinking about all the components I need to pull a shoot together. A while back, I got an idea to do a roadtrip engagement shoot but didn’t have a cool car or an engaged couple to do the shoot with, so I just filed it away. When a coworker mentioned that her husband had an old car and wanted some photos of it, I thought this might be a great time to revive the “Roadtrip Engagement”. I was lucky enough to meet Natalie and Ben through a mutual friend and they turned out to be the PERFECT models for this shoot! Recently engaged, they were super fun and so relaxed in front of the camera. I also happened to run into my friend Alina of A Cinderella Experience by Alina Cave and she agreed to do the hair and makeup for the shoot. She did an outstanding job turning my vision into reality and everything fell into place perfectly for our engagement shoot at the beautiful Mitchell Plantaion. Here are a few of the photos – and also be sure to look for Natalie and Ben’s engagement story and photos in the next (June) issue of Madison Living Magazine!

I LOVE doing engagement sessions, and I have a couple more ideas for styled shoots that I would like to try. If you are an engaged couple in need of photos, let me know

Laura & Dane’s Wedding | Tutwiler Hotel and Aldridge Botanical Gardens

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Laura and Dane’s wedding at the Aldridge Botanical Gardens. The wedding party spent the morning getting ready at the beautiful Tutwiler hotel in Birmingham, AL and then traveled to the Aldridge Botanical Gardens for the ceremony and reception. The Bride and Groom opted to do a “first look” at the hotel. I LOVE when couples decide to do this – it really gives them a chance to have some time together, as well as get some great couple’s portraits before the commotion of the ceremony and reception begin. After a few pictures at the hotel, we went over to the gardens to do a few more photos and get ready for the ceremony, and let me just say that Aldridge Botanical Gardens was a gorgeous location for a wedding! So lush and pretty there – perfect for pictures too The wedding went perfect, and the reception was so much fun! Both being Auburn graduates, and both coming from a long line of Auburn Grads, the Bride and Groom incorporated lots of Auburn touches at their reception. I love their groom’s cake – complete with toilet-papered trees! And after that statement – I know you are anxious to see pictures… Here are just a few from different events throughout their day

kristen+jeff | Huntsville Madison Alabama Engagement Photograper

I just love shooting fun couples at great locations, so this session ranked high on my list of favorites! I could tell that Kristen and Jeff just genuinely loved being together and they were just super fun and comfortable in front of the camera. Although it was REALLY windy that day, we had great light and a great location to work with at the Mitchell Plantation! Special thanks to them for allowing us to shoot there! Erin | Madison Huntsville Model Senior Photographer

Erin is an aspiring model and needed some photos for her agency, so we had a great time getting lots of shots at some of my favorite spots in Madison. Erin did such a great job. And it happened to be freezing that day. And I almost got hit by a bicyclist who was going like 40mph, but that’s another story. Anyway – even with all the distractions, Erin rocked it out! Here are a few of the shots from our session:

Video Blog Tip – Getting True Smiles | Huntsville Madison Alabama Children Family Photographer

My second attempt at a video blog post – I’m getting better, only took me 5 takes this time!!! Anyway… I get asked alot by moms how I get kids to look at me and get true smiles out of them. Here is just one quick little tip on one thing I do. I would love to hear if this tip works for you! Enjoy!

Humble Heart Farms|Huntsville Madison Alabama Commercial Photography

Through my assignments with Madison Living magazine, I have often have the opportunity to visit local businesses that I wouldn’t otherwise get to see up close. One of these recent assignments led me to Humble Heart Farms where I got to tour the farm, try some yummy samples, and take home some goat cheese of my own. Oh, and did I mention I got to see the cutest baby goats ever???

I’m pretty sure they were all smiling for me On the tour part of my visit I was able to sample several of the goat cheese flavors offered by Humble Heart Farms, as well as some of their dessert products. One of my favorites was the Mediterranean Goat Cheese, which I believe is the sample shown in the picture below. The other image shows the simple process of making the goat cheese. The curd is allowed to drain through the cloth until a thick goat cheese is formed.

Upon leaving Humble Heart Farms, owner Leslie sent me on my way with 3 different flavors of their goat cheese and some recipes in which to try them out. Shown in the picture below, the flavors from left to right are Honey, Rio Grande, and Mediterranean. I found that they were all quite tasty simply spread on some toasted bread. My other favorite way to use them were in the easy to make recipes that Leslie shared with me, as well as to play around and create a recipe of my own. I made a creamy Mediterranean Spinach Dip, a quick and easy mini personal cheese cake, and an arugula pear goat cheese pizza (my own creation!).

If you like goat cheese, I definitely recommend these recipes! They were all super simple to make and really tasty too! Here are the recipes below:

This dip was great warm, but also good the next day right out of the refrigerator! Thanks to Humble Heart Farms for this recipe. For a light lunch, try this Arugula Pear Goat Cheese Pizza creation that I put together:

I really enjoyed visiting this local farm and seeing how this great goat cheese is made right here close to home! I will definitely be buying more of Humble Heart’s goat cheese at the Madison City Farmer’s Market, which will re-open April 21, 2012. Retro Bowling Shoot for Southern Fashion Coalition|Madison Huntsville Alabama

I am so excited to be working with the Southern Fashion Coalition this year as part of the photography team – I have the opportunity to do some fashion photography with models, makeup artists, hair studios, boutiques - the whole nine yards! Our first shoot of this season was a bowling theme to get some photos for a really fun upcoming fundraiser (be sure to like the Southern Fashion Coalition page for more details coming soon!) When I stepped into this bowling alley, I immediately thought I wanted to give these photos sort of a fun retro feel. When the model arrived and had awesome hair and makeup that also had a retro vibe, I was super excited and knew this would be a really fun shoot! Here are a few of the photos from our shoot…

I used the dimensions on Zazzle.com to create my template for the IPhone 4. Template was created in Photoshop CS5, and the download is an editable .psd file.
